Dr. Seuss’ 108th birthday is just around the corner (March 2nd) and many classrooms will be taking time to honor one of the greatest children’s authors of all time!  Here are some class activities, snack ideas and Dr. Seuss-inspired resources for celebrating in your classroom!

Mystery Reader!  Plan on a mystery reader to come in and read a well-loved Dr. Seuss book; give the class clues through out the week and let them guess who may be joining.  Have a special revealing come Friday during Dr. Seuss time!

Check out Seussville.com!  This fabulous site is full of interactive tools which engage kids in Dr. Seuss fun!

Classroom Activities!  What the Teacher Wants has incredible Dr. Seuss classroom activities involving lesson plans and learning!

Let kids know about PBS Kids Cat-in-the-Hat-a-Thon!  A two-hour marathon of PBS KIDS’ popular series THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT! lets kids and parents enjoy a block of episodes from the science-focused series on-air, including TWO BRAND NEW episodes.

Dr. Seuss Class Snack Ideas:

Green Eggs:  Set round molds with green jello – serve with plates and spoons!

Red Fish, Blue Fish:  Multi-colored gold fish bring this rhyme to life!

Cat in the Hat:  Pop small sucker sticks onto marshmallows designed with red stripes (icing) so they look like the infamous trouble-maker’s hat!
